getting better
Hi, folks thanks for your advise on resetting service light plus radio removal.
tried to reset the message "urgent service required" I do not have the service light on (yellow on far right of dash) but a yellow ! exclamation mark in the centre with this the cruise does not work i have followed instructions to reset upon doing so 77 appeared after a bleep on message board, any ideas am I right in thinking 77 is fault code for something, as i have mentioned before the car drives 100% on both petrol and gas, I have no other issue's with this car only the above message, also would people in the know like chris and joe advise me to get ecu upload bearing in mind I have no emmission light or idle/cut out problems or just leave well enough alone???? please chaps don't leave me at the alter, now that we have gone so far let me know your thoughts regards sam |

To reset the 'urgent service required' you need to use the procedure I sent you in a PM to read and reset DTC's.
As I think you had an opertunity to have the throttle body software upgraded for free or minimal cost I'd have it done. |

s80 reset
Hi Chris,
Tried everything you said about resetting nothing happened tried it several times, however in post 11 it says no masseges turn it to post 111 and the same massege "urgent engine service required" with the same yellow exclamation mark light up and cruise does not work. maybe it is for later cars mine is a late 1998 2.9 with key in post 11 and holding down trip meter after 10sec there is a bleep and code 77 appears as before, any ideas what this 77 means ??? if i can idenify this it may resolve the whole issue regards sam |

Well I'd take it to have the throttle module software updated and get the dealer to read and reset the codes.
The cruise control will not work if there is a problem with the throttle body but the must common problem is the brake light switch and, if approriate the clutch switch. So I'd have a look in that area and see if you can find the problem there. |

Hi Sam,
I have recently seen a post about a Volvo recall something to do with the throttle software http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/24/auto...reut/index.htm probably nothing to do with it but if it's for free it might try. Joe. Just re-read the above post and where I found the info...then saw who posted it....YOU !!! DOH. that will teach me to read things properly...lol Joe.
