Myself personally would take it to a professional.
But if you do it yourself do not mix the Fluids as the old stuff might have bits of crap in.

Personally i would only use the Volvo fluid and after the flush the fluid change counter in the TCM (tranmission control module) needs resetting therefore i would recomend you take it to a dealer. Volvo do not have a recomended service interval for the fluid to be changed.

Whats the reason you are wanting to flush the fluid?

I've done mine,i used dexron3 gear oil.Remove the oil cooler pipe from the upper front left hand corner of the radiator by nipping together the plastic lugs and just giving it a pull, fit some clear plastic hosing over the where you've just removed the pipe and start the engine,it will pump out the old oil into a container, make sure you can measure the volume removed so you put exactly the same amount back in.I pumped about 5 litres out then turned off the engine.I then put 5 litres of fresh oil back in (down the dipstick tube),i repeated this 3 times until the oil coming out was the same colour as what i was putting in.The difference in colour was amazing and afterwards my gear changes where far smoother,i'd had problems with a judder when the box changed from second to third under strain, this dissapeared and the car felt a lot better to drive.Driving round with burnt brown oil in your gearbox can't do the car any good, the new stuff reminds me of cherryade.I'll probably change it every 2 or 3 years such was the benefit.

Thanks, i am getting a jutter from 1st to 2nd under load. and without the traction control kicking in. i also get a jutter like the car is pulling back timing to avoid knocking when im in 3rd or rolling on 4th when im on the freeway.(motorway)

maybe this is the issue. i am taking it in anyway on thursday but i know i need to get this done so hopefully this fixes the issue.
