Ecc
Hi everyone. I changed the battery of my s60.as soon as I connected the battery I have discovered that the electronic climate control was not working. Actually, nothing below the cd was working. Climate control, seat heaters, stability and traction control, rear window hater. Looks like there is some fault with ECC.it is not fuse. all fuses are ok.what could it be? any ideas
Thank you |

Thats weird as you are supposed to disconect the battery before totally removing the ECC system to stop the srs warnings being activated! See...
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=27570 However your problem seems opposite to this...? Could be a fault code has appeared in that system for some reason and needs deleating? Cheers

Yea, personally i would ring a Volvo main dealers and ask to speak to their parts department and or head service engineer and explain the problem - they work with them day in, day out and are likely to know whats happened (hopefully)! Plus they cant fob you off with 'well it'll cost £xxxxx.xx to look at it for you...' etc etc! If they arent helpful or want to charge you mega bucks to look at it try another dealership!
I cant imagine that whole ECC unit would stop working just like that just by removing and reconnecting the battery! Im guessing a fault code needs clearing / fixing. If the battery were connected wrongly (cross polartity)? - i couldnt imagine Volvo would produce these cars without some kind of fail safe for this eventuality. Hope the above helps - sorry i couldnt be more help, Cheers

There's a procedure to follow when reconnecting the battery to reset the various control modules. See if it helps:
When you reconnect the battery to the car (positive lead then the negative last) you need to have the key at position II in the ignition. You then have to calibrate the upper electronic module by doing the following: 1. Initialize central locking - lock & unlock the car using the remote. 2. Calibrate blower fan - turn on ignition. Turn fan to maximum. Turn fan to minimum. Done. 3. Calibrate sunroof - (sunroof must be closed). Key in ignition position I. Press switch to tilt sunroof fully. Release. Press switch for at least 5 seconds until roof closes. Release switch. Done. Repeat this procedure if roof does not operate properly. Failing that. Completely slide back sunroof to its maximum open position. Release switch. Press switch for at least 5 seconds until sunroof closes completely. Release switch then carry out tilting calibration again as above. Did the specialist hook the car up to VIDA via the OBD socket to check for any fault codes?
