2nd rear fog light how to activate? V60
does somebody know how to activate the 2nd fog light at the rear of a v60?
if i compare the left and right side, they both have 3 wires going in to the light but the right side dioesn't light up. I even bought a RHD rear light to be sure there is a fog light but it doesn't work can it be activated by the dealer? |

Hi
On my V50 I just ran a link wire over from the right side to the left inside the boot area. Has been working ok for the last 10 years.

I exported my RHD S60 to Europe and had to make the left side rear fog work.
I took mine to Volvo who told me it was market specific RHD car, right rear fog light. The dealer then ran a lead from right to left which caused the control module to trip. I used the wire as a switch to relay and took a separate wire from the rear fuse box to power the left side rear fog.

What is the rationale for activating both fog lights?

I find it creats confusion, looking like brake lights.
For example, it happens when driving on the highway and the car in front of me changes lanes. If the car then in front of me has both rear fog lights on, the first impression is that it is braking.

Exactly. I thought this is why there is only one - to differentiate from brake lights.

I also like symmetry. If foglights are mistaken for brake lights, is that too bad a thing? If a following driver has to brake suddenly as a result, they are too close in conditions warranting fog lights.
The really serious one imo is the number of asymmetric headlights, oncoming cars looking like motorbikes! (Stands by for flak )

difficult to confuse with the brake lights because there are 3 brakelights
what if i'm coming to the UK and there is fog? you will see a fog light on the left side(because EU) and think you can pass me on the right side and hit the right rear of my car... |
