Roof bars for 2017 XC60
Hi, I’m after recommendations for a set of roof bars for my XC60. They will mainly be used for carrying large plywood sheets, long lengths of timber, the odd box from Ikea etc.
I would like something quiet (prev ‘aero’ bars for my V70 whistled like a jet engine on full reheat). Also intend to leave them attached, so need to be durable (previous ones locking mechanism rusted at the slightest risk of a shower). And what load can the XC60 take on the roof? I’m sure the V70 was 90kg, but is the XC60 75kg? Finally, what colour? The car is a black R-Design (so black rear windows and roof rails). Do I go for black roof bars or silver?

I purchased a set from CNR, but they whistle like pigs at 35+mph. So I tend to only put them on as required (5min job). But the bars have a weight restriction (for guidance of 60 kilo). Available in all colours as long as it was black 😊 (I’d post a picture if I knew how). |

...so avoid the CNR ones. Any other suggestions? I’d like to keep them on if possible.

I've got the Thule edge wingbars in black on my black r design, very happy with them, some wind noise but that could be down to the cycle carriers on them.

I've got the Thule aero bars. I became happier with the noise once I fitted the additional rubber 'filler' strips on the underside between the foot bracket and the bar end stop.

I've got the Cruz aero bars from the www.roofbox.co.uk
Half the price of Thule and pretty well built Would recommend. |
