Default MHEV stop/start problem?

Hello
I am still trying to understand what caused my B5P XC60 to leap forward from stationary and collide with the back of an HGV whilst waiting for traffic lights to change.
I had about 40 minutes beforehand received a notification on the drivers display that park assist was disabled "service required " and thus I found out later the slow speed anti collision auto brake was disabled.
I have discussed the incident at length with my passenger a very experienced driver who confirms that I had been stationary for probably over a minute before the car leapt forward.
Usually as the car comes to a halt at the traffic lights the engine is cut by the stop start system. If one is waiting for a minute or more the engine restarts at idling speed. In this instance however it appears that it may have caused the car to.move forward?
I am convinced that my foot was on the brake all the time and did not move or slip off. If it had been off the brake and on the accelerator then the car would have moved forward earlier. Whilst the distance was at 6ft or less and the collision speed was minimal as the HGV had the RSJ type rear "bumper" the damage was extensive.
Any thoughts or observations by other MHEV forum members appreciated.

The car records all your journeys in its little black box for accident investigation, see if Volvo can look into it.

I am aware that whilst the fault codes may reveal something the car is at present in the compound of the Insurance Co appointed repairer awaiting delivery of replacement parts
So cannot get car to Volvo dealership until repaired meanwhile am enduring a Honda Jazz courtesy car which is a horrible car.!

It looks like your not the only one to have this happen. Not sure if you are aware of this thread, but very similar circumstances. I am guessing yours has the 'Fly By Wire' type transmission. There is also another thread were the transmission keeps jumping back into 'P' on it own.

My V60 will restart with enough urge to jump forward sometimes if the auto hold brake is on and the foot off the brake pedal, it only happens after the car has been stopped for several minutes in traffic. That's on a B3 Mild Hybrid.

I resolved it after it happened twice by switching off the auto hold. That way I either have to apply the parking brake or keep my foot on the foot brake.

My view was that relying on the auto hold and at the same time allowing the car to restart the engine itself, when restarting the engine and going above a certain rev level will automatically release the brake was asking for trouble as the auto hold doesn't hold the car firm like the parking brake, but rather is just like resting your foot "just enough" on the brake pedal so is more easily overcome.

The immediate thing that springs to mind, have you made more than 30 posts. If not have a look HERE. I'm not sure, but if the recipient hasn't made the required number of posts that they would be able to reply to you.

I have now established that I do have well over 30 posts and whilst my linked email address is yahoo I cannot see why my message does not appear in the sent box which remains at zero. I have tried again as my insurers are interested if an identical event happened to another car (aka the Jaguar iPace problem).

Have you used the PM function before without issue? It could be that the member you are trying to contact has not enabled the PM messaging function at their end. You can always PM me to establish your messages are outgoing.
