XC90 Please can someone identify this part of the engine
This is the engine bay from a Volvo XC90 2013 diesel.
Please could someone be so kind as to tell me what this clip part is and does? It looks as though it has come unclipped, and so can I just clip it back on? Its to the left hand side of the engine just below the oil filler. The story behind this is. I am selling this car and two men came round this morning. The elder father kept me talking the son looked with a torch at one wheel and then nothing else before the bonnet was up and the top plastic engine cover off. The younger one was showing me how this clip was off, and it would be a problem. I am very suspicious that this was a con. But they kept saying don’t put this back on, you don’t know how long it’s been off and what damage has been caused, so i am hoping someone can provide some informed comment. Many thanks Last edited by timothydavidnichol; Dec 27th, 2023 at 10:57. Reason: correction |

Looks like the swirl flap connector arm has come off. There are many threads about it on here .........

It's either a con to beat your price down or they're utterly clueless. Either way, find another buyer as you don't want either problem to deal with.
As has been said, swirl flaps. Known issue, gets fixed, (engine)life goes on.

Simply clip it back on to the ball joint marked with the white arrow. No damage will have been done whatsoever. If it comes off again, buy another one here :
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285422212703 And don't have anything to do with those two again. PS you might have some luck posting in the "Sales" section of this forum, I've bought a few cars that way...
