Default Alarm siren

Hi - 2005 V70

The alarm keeps sounding intermittently.... for no apparent reason.... and it's getting very annoying!!

And getting Alarm Service Required and Alarm Triggered messages

I set the 'dog button' but this doesn't stop the alarm sounding

When i bought the car about 5ish years ago I had to replace the alarm siren.... which got the alarm to work as well as the sunroof.... genuine part approx £130

The only thing I can think of is that the siren is failing....the internal batteries? Currently Volvo now want £180...plus vat...for a new siren!!

Note I don't have Vida software..... will this say if the siren is at fault ....or is likely to be the siren?

Thanks

It would tell you the cause of the activations, so you can see what's triggering the alarm

Presumably if the siren module was duff it would say comms fault to siren or something I suppose

Far as I'm aware the only one you can really do anything about DIY wise is the press stud type window connectors in the boot area both sides. If any of them seem loose pop it off, give it a gentle squeeze with pliers and pop back on tighter

There are other sensors I don't know them all, probably in the door and bonnet locks amongst other things

I get the occasional random activation from time to time and in mine it's always the occupancy sensor (in roof by front head rests) I've been thinking maybe a have a bug living up there somewhere, might replace it.. but not often enough to be any real concern

Noted

Volvo price is £180 and if rather get from the dealer than eBay especially as the price is the same

However I was asking if an intermittent siren sounding can be due to the siren failing

I fitted a new one just under five years ago.... when I got the car the siren.... And sunroof..... didn't work.....the new siren also fixed the sunroof

So if the internal batteries in the siren start to fail..... Does that set of the siren?

Just take the fuse out. The alarm light will still flash on the dash but alarm won't go off.
