Default 850 T5 Estate

I have 2 minor queries which I hope someone will have knowledge of.

I own a 96 T5 Estate. I have noticed when looking into the engine compartment that there appears to be a white powder build up on the top of the Turbo where it joins the downpipe of the exhaust. There does not appear to be any fluid leaks whatsoever anywhere on the engine. Does anyone know what this could be.

Also my drivers door lock has jammed and I cannot turn the key. Do I have to get a replacement barrel from Volvo and can they match it to my original key. I also need new remote key fobs. Are they Volvo only parts?

Thank you.

Duncan,

White powder on the top of the turbo sounds like the remains of coolant that has escaped and evaporated... You could have a weepy pipe on the turbo return, or check the narrow cooling pipe that passes over the top of the heatshield - mine failed a while ago, but only ever oozed, rather than failed!

As for the locks, they should be able to get you a new lock from your key number, and yes the fobs are a volvo part.

Hope that helps,

Phil :-)
