1970 (J reg) Volvo 145 B20 DL Estate

1 owner from new / garaged from new.
Safari Yellow
Tan interior
"Very original" - even though through the years it has had had repairs within 54+ years.

2. 0 Manual
MOT / Tax exempt (last MOT'd in November 2016 - 2 miles since).

Rare early model with split rear side windows (could possibly be a 1969 model registered 1970?)

- Original bill of sale - £1732. 30
- First taxation slip on 30/ 07/ 1970
- All original Volvo owner wallet / books / owners manuals and both Volvo keys.
- Receipt for its 1st inspection (24/ 09/ 1970)
- A4 folder of service history, interesting history documents and old MOT's etc.

Very solid.
Floors excellent
chassis rails great
inner wings very good
Panels nice (etc etc etc).

Does need some work
Needs [what I can only describe as] the "vertical spare wheel wells", left and right.
Rear left jacking point.
Some paintwork.

Mechanically good. Needs tinkering to run as fuel in lines has evaporated due to not being used.
Could easily suck it through but don't like the taste of petrol! May get a chance, work / family life allowing.
(Does start and runs on easy start but the clear inline fuel filter is showing as bone dry).

Looks exactly like the photos show.
Could be used "as is" once running.

Price based on probate Valuation (£8k) but happy to have a polite conversation to those genuinely interested.

It's not quite perfection as it sits, but it is a really good and honest base for someone to make something very special!

*** UPDATE: Starts on the key, runs beautifully and drives well. It runs really well too caveated by the fact that the brakes are binding a little at the rear I think (only took a mouthful of fuel to suck the fresh fuel through!). ***

No, to me that's perfection. It's not an over restored show pony, it's a car you could use every day. It's taken a lifetime to looking that, and it will only continue doing so if it is bought by a sympathetic new owner. Wish it could be me!

I concur 'E.C.'. A car is only original once. I had a 144 and three 145s back in the day. My first ever Volvo was a '72 145E bought on a whim when it was 12 years old. Although the saloon came close, none of them were as tidy as this one is.

I took it to the local Esso to stick 20 quid of Super in today. Drove OK considering. The rear brakes are grabbing a little.

Ended up having 2 conversations about it at the petrol station, and another when I took the pictures on the road!!!!!

That is a thing of beauty

My first Volvo back in the day was a 1969 145S. Loved it so much I have been a continuous Volvo owner since - 50 years.

Regarding the age related spec. It does indeed look like a '69 spec - one piece chrome grille, split side window and carpet transmission tunnel without the clock console. However, '69 spec didn't have headrests on the front seats, so would suggest very late '69 early '70 which would fit with the registration date.

Good luck with the sale, deserving of an appreciative owner.

I agree, 'ITSv40'. Another clue is the door handles - later cars had the 'letterbox' pull flap sort and not the push button type fitted to this car.
