Default 240 REAR WIPER MOTOR Part number 401596 for 1984 GLT

Does anyone have experience of repairing the motor?

Mine blows fuse number 1, and does not work when connected directly to the battery. Removing the 'can' reveals a pristine winding.

Any recommendations how to source a replacement?

Is it possible to convert to the later motor?

Thanks.

I have a possible source of a replacement motor, but this particular incarnation seems to be much rarer than the unit that succeeded it and was arranged in a very different fashion inside the tailgate.

Still no thoughts about a repair?

This is the motor. I now have a working unit - the original is seized - but there is still a short somewhere in the tailgate circuit.

I've managed to mislay the connecting rod between the motor and the wiper.
Does anyone have the rod that they can let me have, please?
Tailgate electrics are all now working, but ironically the wiper is still unusable.

The attached picture shows the rod, which can otherwise be seen at:

A happy ending at last.

VOC member WPR678B has very kindly furnished me with the OEM part, and the wiper is now functioning as it should.
