There's much truth in the business saying that one unhappy customer makes a lot more noise than 100 happy customers.
Oddly enough I just googled our local Volvo dealership as their name escaped me only to find it listed as Marshalls just as I recalled it as Pillings, I'll have to look more carefully next time I drive past them to see what name is on the building.

Insurers generally offer the lifetime guarantee on their 'approved repairers' and as all the people involved are out of business there is no one really to claim from as Snows will not be responsible for Gibsons work. Companies 'close down and re-open as a new one the next day' with the same name - and the 'new' company is not responsible for the 'old' company even though to all intents and purpose its the 'same' company! The only importer of cars in the UK who controls the dealerships (that I know of) is Mercedes; they bought out the dealers about 10yrs ago.
In terms of having a problem with the dealer in this case it probably was with the dealer group who did exist, not the one that took it over or Volvo UK. Had it been a Mercedes then the option of complaining to the importer would have been valid. A further explanation to this effect would probably have gone a long way to mitigating this problem.

Wrong, I choose a Volvo franchise that led me to believe they had a body shop. Only after the event did I discover that the work had been farmed out but to be fair it was to a Volvo approved body shop. Today I made use of of a legal advice and protection insurance I have. The result surprised me. I am not going to give their approach away but it seems that I have a valid claim against one of the parties and the legal team are off and running. |
