New Screen Required
After 3yrs 1month, I've picked up a stone chip that requires the screen to be replaced.
I'm sure the car knows... it's about to be sold, so I reckon it knows and it's done it just to spite me So I'm awaiting a call back from Volvo, let's see what they say, then a phone call to Direct Line to see if they will pay for Volvo to fit a screen rather than Autoglass. |

I feel your pain there Cocopops.
Just ordered my new car and my current one has decided it wanted new tyres, new front discs and pads (discs were warped, so I was getting the dreaded judder). Then, the undertray came off (although to be fair, that was probably me hitting a speed bump too quickly). So that had to be replaced. Now my front brakes are squeeling when coming to a stop. Hoping that is just a bedding in issue rather than anything to do with the new ones being fitted incorrectly. People think they are just machines, but they have feelings too.

Seems I don't get a choice...
Autoglass - Excess £75 Volvo Dealer - Only £125 paid... Volvo quoting £1458.36 inc VAT & fitting. So I might be forced to let Autoglass have a go at fitting. |

When my V60 screen went, it went through Autoglass but they fitted a genuine Volvo screen.
It now has a chip that's just small enough to pass the MOT on the replacement screen. I don't know if it's the shape of the car or just bad luck or lousy glass. |

My experience of Volvo changing mine under warranty was they ordered the screen and then subbed out the fitting to a third party who came in their van and swapped it in the car park of the dealer. It then leaked so they had to do it again… I’d probably trust AutoGlass more. Is your screen heated? I was under the impression they are all genuine Volvo ones.

I had Autoglass fit a new screen to my BMW M135i.
They did it on my driveway and did an absolutely superb job. It’s highly unlikely Volvo dealers will fit a screen for you, they will normally sub contract it as it’s too specialised. |

Chips repaired
hi Lee (I presume it's the same CocoPops ;-)
Don't listen to your Volvo dealer... I had a chip in the swept area of the XC60 and went to Volvo; they said it needed to be replaced and so I went to the insurer, who palmed me off straight to National Windscreens in Reading, just opposite B&Q / MadStad. I wasn't too happy, but that was the only option, so I made arrangements for the replacement with a £75 excess or whatever. Took the car in and the nicest guy met me and said he could fix it; an hour later and the chip is gone, and even though I know where it was, I could only just about make out a mark. Brilliant. Ewan

Hey Ewan!
Yup, one and the same Car is off to Autoglass on 17th, for them to fit screen and perform "dynamic calibration of ADAS". So fingers crossed they know what they're doing |

Think I would rather Autoglass did the replacement - it’s a fairly specialised job nowadays in terms of the bonding process. I can’t see Volvo dealers being expert in this field as they won’t get the experience on any volume.
