Default Drivers seat bolster, head up display

I'm now a month into ownership of my beautiful First Edition.
Is anybody else having a wear & tear problem with the right hand driver's seat bolster? After just under 10000 miles of use mine looks like it's had a very hard life. The leather has stretched out of shape and the cushion has collapsed. I've seen a mention of this somewhere in one of the early magazine reviews but I can't find it now.
And I'm having what seem to be fairly common electrical bugs. The positions of the head up display and of the near side wing mirror seem to have minds of their own. I can reset them, store in the seat memory but after a couple of restarts they've gone their own way again.
Any ideas?

Do you mean a year into ownership?

I have done 8000 miles and my side bolster has some colour transfer but no real wear, it sounds like yours is not of good quality. I would suggest you complain to the dealer as there were some accepted build quality issues in the early days.

Electrical gremlins are, unfortunately, par for the course with this vehicle. I haven't heard of your particular issue before so cannot really comment. Have you bothered the dealer yet? Sometimes a reset and the latest software fixes all sorts of unrelated problems.

The constant re-setting of the HUD has also been driving me bananas, but I did something different yesterday that has kept the position I set...I pressed the memory seat button which has saved the HUD settings, much like mirror settings. Bingo!

Sounds obvious when one thinks about it...but I hadn't!

Let us know if it works for you.

Our first test drive was in a vehicle a dealer had just got back in from a customer. It was 6 months old and I couldn't believe the state of the blonde leather, the staining was terrible. Now the salesman told me Volvo were putting in a complete new set of seats before it was sold on. May just have been salesman speak, I don't know, but just thought I'd mention this, as it suggests Volvo are willing to replace seats in specific situations.

Slightly worried now as we have spec'd the blond seats. MY17 version now has charcoal carpets etc which makes absolute sense. Dealer indicated that transfer of blue from denim can occur but that they clean up very easily with the leather care wipes. I guess we'll find out!

Philip,
You have me slightly worried, as having had an XC60 for several years with no colour transfer to Amber/Black seats, I now wonder if I am going to have problems with my V90 Amber Leather Faced seats?
I normally wear jeans when driving and now wonder if I should change, to prevent this happening?
Any suggestions, most welcome.
Thank you.

tem.

It is well known that blue jeans WILL transfer their blue dye to pale coloured leather seats. Doesn't matter what make or model.

A fastidious car owner who wants to combine dark jeans with pale leather will need to plan for weekly leather cleaning with leather wipes and cream. This has the added benefit of keeping the leather conditioned.

If you drive a new car with pale coloured leather, and do not want to be continuously cleaning the leather, then avoid wearing dark coloured jeans

On my 2009 XC90 I have dark blue and black leather, with white pin striping
The pin striping has blue tinges on all areas of the drivers seat where jeans rub as you enter and leave the vehicle, and the dye is deep in the leather. No amount of cleaning can remove it after 8 years of life.

At the end of the day you would never wash your pristine white t-shirts in the same wash as your blue jeans and expect the t-shirt to stay white....

Yes, I thought I had found that solution and there did seem to be some logic to it. A high/low driver's seat position in the memory should match a low/high HUD position. And I was quite pleased when it seemed to work for a while. But after a few engine restarts the position of the HUD has gone AWOL again. I'm hoping the June software update will fix it.

My dealer has offered to replace the seat cushion/bolster but I want to be sure that any change will be a permanent fix, not just a reptilian of the same problem. I'm waiting for a response directly from Gothenburg.
