Hi Peter Milnes,
Running 100% bio diesel is the next projekt, i am about to make a generator to produce electricity and heat running bio diesel and others.
The calculation so far says that the heat almost is for free. But i have to see it in real.
After i have experimented with the generators fuel i will know how and what to run the TDI on.

I am not sure about what you mean with,

Good day,

Would it be possible to upload some pictures of the TDI conversion as i am also going to do this conversion in the future, i decided on the 1.9TDI as i need a car with a low fuel consumption and some pictures of the process or after it was completed would really be appreciated to ease my mind. would it be possible to use the plain m40 gearbox or will it have to be a m41 ?

Or perhaps did someone install a even newer engine with more power but with more or less the same fuel consumption ?

thank you

Regards

Henk

Classicswedes: Gas might be a serious option for my good car. The only query would be insurance after installing as I would only do the job myself as payback time would be too long on a professional £1000 type of job. Any thoughts are appreciated.
As to the minilites, I am looking now....

cheers,Mike
oh no not a D24 It's SO heavy , noisy, and bus like .
What you should be thinking about is an early D5244T 163bhp and a manual gearbox from a 960 2.5 litre remember you will need to carefully sort the gearing , a very high ratio rear axle will be needed with any Diesel .
You will have a superb power train then which should do 50 + mpg . the engine wont be any heavier than the B20 .

Yeah a good D5 would be an excellent choice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_D5_engine

Haha ye i know this is a ancient thread, was hoping that the user is still on this forum and that the car build was finished to take a look at it.

I was taking a quick glimpse at the D5244T engine today and it does seem like a very good idea.

I was thinking of doing the D5 conversion (its why i got my s60) but the more i looked into the conversion it seems like you would come across alot of problems with running the engine. There are so many sensors for the engine and apparently it also checks the engine mount condition.

The other thing is there is a good chance you would need to cut the bulkhead alot due to the fuel pump on the block.

Ive not done loads of measurements to know for sure but its what i spotted from a quick look at it all.

Dont want to stop you from trying as its still something i would love to do in the future.

You would use an aftermarket ECU like megasquirt I would assume. Trying to use the original ecu would be a pita I would think.

a megasquirt would be far too simple , for a modern diesel , you would need the original ECU and a few vital modules and loom from the doner car .
