D5 and D3 models will always hold their value better that the T6 or T5 models
the 3 lts gas guzzler just isn't popular at the moment given the price of fuel and the way it drinks it.

Well that's relative to those diesel models - hardly a fair comparison - and I'm sure that there are better price depreciating diesel vehicles out there than the XC60 D5 and D3 models...even in the Volvo model range - but then that too isn't a fair comparison with the other features of the XC60 compared to say a S60 or V70 etc...

I'm not looking at buying a XC60 T6 to save on fuel prices (otherwise I would consider a diesel) so would think a more appropriate comparison would be against other similar petrol models in the Volvo range or other marques.

on the minus side, they're not popular. on the plus side they're rare, so it probably balances out.

if cost of ownership isn't an issue, with petrol and depreciation being 2 of the many factors used to calculate TCO, it's pretty academic!

If you have a liking for the loud pedal, don't expect much more than around 20 mpg. At £1.40 a litre that would be the only downside, but out here at 30p/l for 98 grade, who cares?

The T6 for me is the perfect combination of performance, practicality and luxury.

Same here in Europe...my fuel is tax free and that GBP1.40 is only for regular unleaded in the UK too...when I was back there briefly for a weekend...98 grade was GBP1.47 (and it's higher now)...

I currently have a MY2007 XC90 V8 Exec, so unless another V8 comes out in either a XC90 or XC60, then it will have to be the XC60 T6...

In Dubai I have a new shape Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L V8 Overland...and as you say with the cheap fuel who cares!

Most of my miles in UK/Europe are motorway miles...so even in my XC90 V8 I average 24mpg better than when I had a BMW X3 3.0L S6 (albeit the older engine than the more frugal latest version)...but I do miss my old Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L V8 over here, best was only ever 19mpg but never had the electronic/electric issues experienced in my XC90...

I only hope that a new MY2013 XC60 will be more reliable (especially as the 1st year of production has passed) but still waiting to hear how reliable the new T6 engine/transmission/drivetrain/suspension is compared to the old T6s that used to haunt XC90s of the past...?

I've just over 22,000km in 13 months ownership - the only (albeit minor) problem I had on my T6 was an error message for the rear doors kept flashing up for no apparent reason. This was cured after the software upgrade for the 20K service.

I don't think you should be worried about the engine/transmission of the new T6 of the XC60, because as you already know that the SI6 engine ( 3.0 twin turbo) and the 6 speed Aisin transmission of the XC60 are not those of the XC90 T6 of the 2003-2004.

The insurance renewal (a month ago) gave it a value of 160,000 Dhs.

There's one on Dubizzle at the moment (in brown - yuk!) a 2010 with 10,500km and asking 140,000 Dhs. But he doesn't say if it's the T6 or the 2.0T
