740/940 Diesel Wanted
Hi there.
My car sadly got written off last week by a woman crashing into the back of it whilst parked outside my house. I'm on the hunt for a replacement vehicle and have my heart set on a Volvo Diesel. My preference is a 740/940 Auto Estate though I'm open to offers. I'm based in West Sussex but happy to travel. Please PM. Many thanks, Mat |

I have this, tbh from my research the diesels in these cars are sluggish and no easier run than the petrol versions, the only benefit of them was when derv was half the price of petrol.

I've got a 740 td, man/od box. no problems in 3 years touch wood. it certainly isnt what I'd define as sluggish.once the turbo cuts in it pulls really well. It has more torque and BHP than a 2.0 petrol 740. my last car was a sierra 2.3 diesel, which certainly WAS sluggish, this is in a different league. Jobs like timing belts and the rear 2 glow plugs are difficult and best left to a pro unless you are good, it averages around 40 mpg which is a realistic everyday figure and not bad for the size/weight/age of the car. I like it, others may not.
I think try before you buy is the way to go |

Presumably you have seen the 760 auto on ebay (150405857565) which would appear to be a reliable car.
Have not seen any 940's on offer for awhile, if I was looking for an estate diesel I would go for this one. jor
