I've been given a Sport Setting
I guess it's part of a software update but just come back from my first service and flicked the gear stick across (auto) to see what gear I was in and it said 'S' where normally it shows the gear and goes to manual, excellent and they didn't charge me extra, still can't turn the lights off though!!

Not really, it just waits a bit longer to change gear, there maybe other subtle changes but only discovered it this evening when I nipped out for a curry.

It makes a massive difference to the feel of the car. The gearbox generally operates in one gear lower than when in (D)rive, which of course, means it is more often in the power band, so feels more accelerative. Additionally, the gearbox is far more willing to kick down a gear or two.
Honestly, the car is night and day different in the two modes, even if there is no more absolute power or performance, it is definitely more accessible in Sport. Of course, the downside is the impact on fuel consumption..

My impression is that in addition to both selecting a lower gear as well as keeping each gear longer, is that the input from the pedal potensiometer is treated differerent so that the pedal is more sensitive. This does not make any difference during "floring", however. But he pedal feels more sensitive. Another impression of mine is that each gear shift is quicker and more firm, but i could be wrong.

I was in a hurry and went to drop it down a gear on a bit of dual carriageway when I found it, I hadn't eaten the curry at this point!!
