XC70: Wheels/Brakes temp spare tyre

I would rather have a temp spare than lose 4-6 inches of boot floor.

IIRC the loss is no more than an inch or so but the entire floor has to be replaced and raised by that inch. A member on this forum did the job and reported it. The temporary spare sits quite low in the wheel well and a full size wheel doesn't project above the well by the difference in width of the spare and the full size. You can still keep tools, jack etc in the wheel and the only real loss is the "shopping flap. My days of long distance motoring are over but if I was travelling to and from the South of France as I used to do, I'd definitely do this mod and find some other way of securing the shopping. If someone can find the thread on this mod, maybe they could post the link.
