Default 460 Pig to Start

I've got a 1990 460 with a 1.7 carb. engine. It's suddenly become a pig to start when cold. Before, I gave it some choke, it started fine and off I went, but now it's a fine balance between choke and accelerator to get it running. Once it's started the first time in the morning, it seems better and after a few minutes run will start again without choke even in near freezing conditions.

Last summer on holiday I had similar running problems with it cutting out when hot and I and a luckily the neighbour of the guy who I was staying with was a mechanic and he stripped and cleaned the carburettor and all was fine for about six months.

Is it conceivable that there's more dirt in the carb, or an air leak somewhere? I need some ideas of where to start to approach the problem

Many thanks
Peter

I think you're just going to have to strip the carb and give it a really good clean! Not my favourite job in the world....

Good luck!
