Hello all, I have been browsing the forum for a while but I feel it is time to share my experience.
I bought my 2010 1.6d drive in March this year and I was very impressed with the economy. I shortly after got a stage 1 remap to help with the motorway miles which made a big difference and I was very happy. Not long after I noticed the turbo was quite loud and was whistling, which I put down to the remap given my lack of mechanical know how. Anyway I then noticed power was coming in a lot later then the usual 2k rpm. It was 2 then 2.5 then 3 etc etc until I had no boost at all. That's when I started to see skid warning light come up on the dash board also. I will admit I have been driving it quite a lot without boost. It still drives fine just slow on long up hills. Anyway today I finally decided to look under the bonnet and investigate and this is what I found. There was a fairly large split on the induction hose going to the turbo (on the soft bit by the jubilee clip) The turbo fins are shattered but there isn't much play in the shaft. The canister at the rear of the engine which has something to do with egr had snapped at the join And lastly the oil breather pipe connection at the top of engine has snapped which has leaked oil across the top of the engine. So quite a few things which surprised me. If I'm honest I can see where the split hose may have let something nasty into the turbo to chew on. But the canister at the back snapping clean off is surprising. Has anyone else had these problems or is it my luck or what? I intend to get this repaired quickly but any advice will be appreciated. |

Just a thought, prior to taking turbo off was the car still running?
My concerns would be has it ate something out the egr that you found broken and shat it through the engine into turbo? I’ve never known anything to go into the hose from outside it’s more likely thr vnt has seized up causing overboost which would split the pipe. But oil does rot hoses and diesel intercoolers almost always end up with a dollop of oily condensed crud in the arse of them. |

I am going to take the egv valve off and see what condition it is in, that might explain what has caused this to happen. I think that the car has not been cared for very well hence why its seems to be going all wrong.
