Default `97 & obd11

My V70 T5 is a 1997 model with the OBD11 connector in the centre console but found out today that although my scanner says No Codes it says it because the OBD11 does not work!

I removed a couple of plugs on sensors and it still read No Codes.

Ok, so if it doesn`t work as i have just read elswhere apparently the socket only works on ME7 models

So where do i read my codes from??

Do i have to read with wires in the connector socket or elswhere?

Can anyone help please?

Check out Vol-FCR software as that should work with 97 car assuming you have an OBD-II cable. You can check if it works by downloading the free demo version of the software from Here
The generic OBD-II readers will only work on the V70 models equipped with the Electronic Throttle controlled engine which are Denso for N/A or ME7 for the Turbo models - Mike

Nope the Eco-HD accessory needs true OBD-II in order to work, as you know this works fine on my V70 MY2000 but that has got the Denso ECU and the dreaded ETM - Mike

Damn and blast!!

I almost ordered one yesterday but decided to hang on until i moved the connector about for horizontal use.
I am now a lot wiser but was looking forward to having one.

Seems as though these earlier models are destined to save you money

I had the same situation with my 1996 850. I built the jig to plug in the socktet and got the codes stright away.

DONT RUSH IT when reading codes.... they are slow to come out.. U hold the button......and ...... then ....everything.....is.......in......slow......moti on.......it ....takes.......ages......to.......read.....all... ..the......codes.......!!

On mine its (Pin 16+ve) (Pin 5 Ground) and (Pin 3 to pull the data off ECU)

The only V70 that flash codes will work on is the one with the 10 Valve engine.

The '97 T5 has Motronic 4.4 and is OBDII compliant, but you must use a code reader which supports ISO 9141 protocol.
