Tailgate Wanted please!

Hi All,

there was a ding in my tailgate when i bought the car and it has been filled with something resembling body filler.

As i'm useless at painting, i'm looking for a tailgate in the right colour, in good condition and preferably with a working lock/latch and maybe even a key!

I don't know the name or code of the colour but this is it :



I'm in West Suffolk so would appreciate it if it wasn't too far away.

Think you are better off getting something like "smart" repair done will be cheaper in long run

That's a very valid point and one i'm considering. However i don't know what's behind the filler or indeed how deep or what shape the dent is. For all i know it could even have holed the aluminium and the dent would certainly have work hardened it.
That means a "Smart Repair" might not be so smart in this instance. In fairness though the filler might only be 1/4"/6.35mm deep and a "Smart Repair" would be perfect.
However, the paintwork has been sanded off in the area so it will need painting at some point - hence looking for another tailgate in the right colour, unbolt one and fit the other, job done.

Take the inner trim off the boot to find outhow deep it is, only takes 10 mins

And another 50 mins of sweating and swearing to get it back on again!

Already tried Tom, it's nigh on impossible to see, even with a torch.

There's someone on eBay breaking a silver 940 at the moment, I don't know if the tailgate differs in any way?

Thanks - it's the same tailgate and not too far from me either as it goes, would just need paint then.
They did confirm it was silver and not Silver-Green which mine is, i'll see what they say on the price of the tailgate then maybe go have a look at it.
