I have Ford Ka seats fitted to my 544. They are the right colour, albeit not the same material pattern, but to the casual observer not blatantly wrong. They are a suitable width, tip forwards with a good latching system and have headrests. They are far more comfortable than the originals, which I have in storage.
You would need to fabricate a suitable base and grind off the 'legs' on the Ford seats, but it is a fairly easy adaptation. |

...there are several threads on different forums showing how these seats look in Morris Minors => https://www.mmoc.org.uk/Messageboard...ic.php?t=45963 https://www.mmoc.org.uk/MessageBoard...p?f=25&t=60111 (For example) ##### Picture of the Amazon seats (under the supermarket poorly fitted seat covers) in my car => ... I might have some more pictures somewhere if they are of interest

Hi army thanks for your input on seat quest. Quite like the Ford Ka Seats conversion on Morris 1000. Will have to visit local breaker and see what is available. Had a PV 444 back in the 70’s and did the Amazon seat conversion to that. But of course those seats were much easier to come by then!
As an aside - Sent grill surround,2 door handles, 1 boot handle and some bits of bonnet trim for quote and possible re chroming to a firm in the Midlands. I know chrome work is expensive and was fully expecting to pay about £250 for the stripping and dipping process. But when I received a quote for £620 + vat and carriage my heart sank. I hurriedly phoned the company and asked them to return the parts untouched. Have asked Simon at Brookhouse to see if he can supply the parts new. I have seen them for sale in Sweden and am sure the cost would be significantly less than Chroming quote. |

Grill and surround is available from PTT Bumpers, don't know the price though.

Earlier I suggested VW Beetle seats but an alternative might be front seats from a 2 door Volvo 340. I saw a pair in a Duett van and they looked very good. Various cloth colours so you might get a reasonable match for your back seat. Ones from a 4 door won't have the tilt back for rear access. Head rest optional but it doesn't look out of place. At least they would be Volvo seats.

I've just had a look on the VP site for a replacement grill surround and then converted the price to GBP and came up with 430 quid - the real cost would be more if you were to get it from Sweden. I'm not saying the quote you had for rechroming was good but... ...perhaps you need to shop around a bit more? (I don't wish to sound critical but it is hard to bargain for a good price if you've already posted the parts before knowing what the cost is gonna be - I realise they need to see the parts to give an accurate quotation but they should be willing to give an "so long as it doesn't seem too bad when it gets here price")

But I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a Volvo 340 - it must have been back in the early 2000s. Here in Holland I'm more likely to see an Amazon than one of those. I think I would struggle to find those seats even with the connections of the Dutch Volvo club... ...I think the 340 was even made in the Netherlands at one time wasn't it? Some kind of spin off from the DAF days - or am I dreaming this up? Almost seems a shame to be breaking the rarer car!
