Information
  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way
  • AOL Customers: Make sure you check the 'Remember me' check box otherwise the AOL system may log you out during the session. This is a known issue with AOL.
  • AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net users. Forum owners such as us are finding that AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net are blocking a lot of email generated from forums. This may mean your registration activation and other emails will not get to you, or they may appear in your spam mailbox

Default Boot lock
s40 2008 tried to open boot but whirring noise.Tried in vain to open from inside, removed bolts from lock to boot.Lock still whirrs but boot permanently open.Just passed MOT yesterday!!!Any suggestions! Meant to harnees still connect to lock tried to remove plug in vain. So it cant shut!

Got the latch off BUT still connected to lock and pressing release button motor just whirrs. GGrrr.Waiting on callback from Arnold Clarks Volvo service dept!MMm.Funny how this happened just after MOT, I did take it back advised a rod displaced but would cost to repair!Guess what when backing removed no rod!But it must have worked for MOT !!!!!!!!!!

Why ? It shouldn't be part of the MOT to open the boot. Not even to check condition of spare wheel - that's just 'luggage' (and indeed more & more cars seem not to have one anyway these days).

Im sure it part of MOT to check all locks work and check there is a spare and its condition.

N.B. That doesn't say boot must be opened & closed again. If it's presented closed that seems to me like a 'pass'

Just checked this myself on the same site and agree with you! The boot could be presented with it "tied" as I have just now with cable ties until I get my new lock not very functional is it.Anyway everything is hunky dorey now!
