Out on an joyride late last night/early this morning, I heard on the BBC that eBikes are going to be prohibited from private selling. They are only to be sold through authorised dealers who have been certified in dealing with them - or something.

The reason for this is apparently they keep catching fire. It seems like it's becomming a persistent nuisance.

That’s a new policy that eBay is adopting. The current policy is that they must be CE marked (both private and trade sales) but it’s not being adhered to. The other issue is modified bikes that go faster than intended are prone to overheating the batteries.
