FPR alternatives
My engine (1783cc volvo engine, year 2000 )has developed the common problem of taking a long time to fire up when it's been stood for a few hours. I suspect the problem is the FPR not holding fuel in the fuel rail, allowing fuel to go back to the tank. The engine will start pretty much instantly if i turn the ignition on 4 or 5 times & allow the pump to build up pressure again.Once started the car runs ok without any other issues.
The FPR currently fitted is a Weber DPR04,rated at 309 KPa. As the weber part is rather expensive, i'm interested to know if anyone has fitted an alternative FPR without any issues. ? Maybe a more readily available ( & considerably cheaper ) Bosch FPR , rated at 300 KPa commonly fitted to some audi VW cars may fit ??? I believe the difference between 309KPa & 300KPa is only about 1 psi ? I don't want to spend too much money on it, as i hope to be swapping it any time soon, & if i trade it in, a dealer would probably scrap it anyway ! |
