The PV uses a rather unusual axle mount with a couple of bars and rubber bushes mounted to the diff. Other owners might like to make comments as I don't know anything about this arrangement. I'm wondering if this is isn't properly set up and is making the back end very rigid.
Derek I am using 165/80/15 made in China, bought in the USA, could not fi d the right size for immediate delivery anywhere. Inflated to 28psi and 26 psiup front.

In the mid 60s Michelin had low pressure tires that were really great, don’t believe that they are available now.

If you have a van / light commercial load rating on the tyres then you will have stiffer side walls.

Have you tried lower pressures? I can't remember what the pressures are meant to be for my PV - I can't find my workshop manual either but those values would be for a rather flexible car-like tyre...

(I'm not going to mention the poly bushes again!)

21 psi front and 24 psi rear recommended in handbook.

Ohhh - pull up a sand bag - I'll tell you a story about wrong tyre pressures:-

I once hired a car in Arizona. The hire company "mechanic" had inflated the tyres to the pressure written on the sidewall of the tyres...

...I'd heard about American land yachts wallowing in corners but it seemed a bit strange to have the same effect on the straights!

He should have inflated then to the car manufacturers spec' which would have taken the weight of the car into consideration.

Note that the tyre pressures shown there in the handbook, 6v car so pre '61, would be for cross plies and not the radials you have. Radials might have been standard on '65 PV's? 26 front and 28 back comes up as suggestion on Brickboard when Googled.

...and I'd better put that sand bag back in the garage again...

More info.
you have probably taken this into account but If you check your pressures when the tires are cold and then go out into the hot Mexican sun, your tire pressures will increase considerably.Best to check them hot.

I think that I have found (hopefully) the problem, when I ordered the springs, I ordered the lowering ones believing they were the standard, and it seems that they are harder to avoid bottoming out.
As for tire pressure I always check it cold, because otherwise you never know where you will end up.
Thank you Arcturus
