Bosch S5 on one Volvo and Varta on the other. Both bought from Batterymegastore on-line and next day delivery. No issues with the purchase experience and none since and a fraction of the cost from ECP.

Varta are good. Bosch steal and put their sticker on them.

A problem with places like Halfords is that they have a slower turnover of battery stock than the big online retailers, so you don't know how long a Halford's battery has been sitting on the shelf. Even a new, perfect battery will incur a slow self-discharge which, if not addressed, will cause deterioration in time. In theory shops are supposed to boost charge their unsold battery stock regularly but I suspect it never happens.

That's so true, and they probably don't rotate their stock as they should do.
