Default Good Battery Makes

I've heard Yuasa are pretty good but tayna.co.uk is recommending a slightly more expensive "Enduroline" battery (but it has less CCA - I don't know what that means).

What should I be looking for?
And is it easy to replace myself? I have only replaced one in my life and that was on a Ford Focus.

I've always been happy with Yuasa, Bosch, Varta, just matching the requirements of the car.

Yeah, I typed in the reg and it showed me the same type of batteries.
Will probably just get the Yuasa.

I've had Numax leisure batteries in the caravan that have lasted really well, put one in the xc90 a couple of years ago and been fine. All from Tayna, great service.

But, if it hadn't been in the middle of covid I would probably have gone with another Volvo one, the car is an 05 plate and still had its original battery, in a smaller car it would have lasted a while longer but was getting a bit reluctant to start, the half mile of cable from boot to starter probably doesn't help a weak battery...

Try the genuine volvo.. often cheaper especially if you ask for discount.

Enduroline are I think associated with Tayna so they always recommend them.

I've had a number of issues with Yuasa recently.

So I would say if you have deep pockets - Bosch S5. If you are more value conscious - Exide. Have fitted about 15 Exide batteries from Tayna since pre-Covid and no issues with any of them, have them in all our vehicles from Massey Ferguson tractor to XC90....

Tanatton, can i ask what issues you had with Yuasa batteries as my less than 2 year old 5000 series battery is not holding a charge.

(I should have added that there's also been mixed reviews on Yuasa in the Subaru world - My Impreza has a Varta blue on it for the different polarity).

My previous XC90 was a project and had been stood a year so when I bought it, hence I needed a battery quickly and at the weekend, so I went to Halfords and got the top of the range one which was a Yuasa 5000 job. I thought the car had a parasitic drain as it never held charge for more than 2 weeks, but when I got around to testing it, and even leaving the battery cables disconnected, it only lasted 2-3 weeks before it wouldn't have enought power to start the car. Hence I took it back to Halfords about 3 months after buying it, and they put it on a tester which confirmed it was faulty and they replaced it there and then.

And then the exact same thing happened with the replacement battery after about 18 months - it would not hold hardly any charge and would only last about a week without the car being used before it was flat, but again Halfords replaced it immediately after their tester confirmed it was faulty.

With all confidence gone, I sold the new replacement battery on e-bay as brand new, unused and bought a Bosch battery from a local motor factors.

Other people swear by them but I'm not prepared to risk making a mistake for a third time.... I was lucky the first twice I didn't get left stranded.
