Default Fog lights!

Hi guys - Need help quickly, so bear with me!

I had the pleasure of my alternator belt snapping on the way to work yesterday. After a bit of squeeling - PING! Cue christmas tree dashboard.
Anyway, I still had 18 miles to work, so I switched off the dipped beams and went to use sides + fogs.
Found out fogs weren't working.
Dippeds went back on and I made it to work. Picked up a new belt at lunch, fitted it after work and after a jump, drove home.

I checked fuse 7 for front and rear fogs and it's fine. I have the combined front/rear switch and there is a short flash of green (fronts), then it goes out again. No rear fogs either, and no dashboard repeater.
There's still an audible click from the relay tray, but I still removed the ashtray and checked the relay to make sure it wasn't loose.
Not loose, but hot. VERY hot. Strange, since the fogs switch has been off there shouldn't be any load on it. As far as I could tell, it wasn't burnt out, and was still "clicking" with switch operation.
It's the metal "K" type.

Anyone had a "hot" relay before? Is this causing the problem?

Cheers
Jonny

The reason of hot relay is too high power on it, I think. It can be because of burned/overheated/tarnished contacts or overheated wires or loose wires or you may using higher power bulbs than oem?
Bypass the relay with piece of wire and then check for lights - the easiest way to diagnose relay's fault.

Some more detailed instructions how to check the relay:

Bulbs are OEM 55W H3s so no problem there. Only thing that's bothering me in the green indicator on the switch shows for a fraction of a second then goes out.
Even if the front fog relay is shot, it shouldn't affect the rear fog as it's an independent relay? All bulbs are ok as well.
