Default Radiator fan problems.

My radiator fan switches itself on as required, but wont switch off, untill the ignition switches it off.Is this likely to be a thermostat problem, and if so, do I need to drain the coolant?

Sounds more like the Fan temp. sensor plug. Unless is your engine running very hot then the thermostat is the problem. And you wont get flooded changeing it.

Thanks Roadcar.

Sounds like the fan temp sensor plug, too, now that youve said.

But where can I find it and what does it look like?

I changed the thermostat as a matter of routine, soon after buying the car as it was over 100,000 miles old.

The good old Haynes manual says it will be either in the radiator side tank or in a hose adaptor in the bottom hose that goes to the radiator. Hope this helps
