Default XC70 D5 Engine Remap

Hi, im the Owner of an XC70 D5 Geartronic and its putting out about 163 bhp (i think), At the moment im considering having the ECU remapped to increase the power because although i love mt XC its a bit sluggish at times off the mark and wondered if a remap would help it out. ive heard it can be boosted to around 185bhp by remapping the ECU.
Im not looking to add any Superchips etc or Change the Turbo as that would affect my insurance too greatly.
Has anyone remapped their D5 XC70? What were the results? Was it worth getting it done? and How much did it cost?

also if anyone knows where i can get my car remapped in the north east it would be helpful.

thanks very much.
Ian.

Speak with RICA. They should be able to help.

No boxes - just a simple software update.

Several upgrades available, actual figures depend on which engine you have , EUIII 163bhp or EUIV 163 or 185bhp.

On the EUIII :

RICA - standard map to 200bhp, 420Nm, sports map to 226 bhp, 475Nm. Loaded via PPC softloader unit.

MTE - standard map to 200bhp, 420Nm. Loaded via softloader and laptop running Windows XP.

Also Upsolute and BSR have good writeups but I'm not sure of their figures but all seem similar.

Look in diesel and performance sections on here and also on VPCUK.org and T5D5.org. Loads of info if you have a look about.

Who are these mystical RICA people? And what kind of price are we talking about?

Not according to my local Volvo dealer - I asked about Polestar and they told me it wasn't available for my 2007MY XC90 D5 185?
One of the mechanics mentioned Bluefin, but apparently they don't do it for Volvo, however Superchips can do a remap software installation at various places around the country - cost £435 though. I think there are many versions and providers of this kind of software, but don't know how they differ or how much difference they make in real terms.
Depends what you want out of it - I'd like better mpg (currently about 31.5) and a little more oomph for safe overtaking, so I'm investigating the options atm.

Default MTE D5 remap.

I can supply the premium Swedish written MTE software at a net price of £435 including VAT.

This will give you outputs of 195bhp and 410nm of torque for the earlier D5s and 220bhp/475nm for the current D5s.

I quote a net price of £435 as I loan the unique MTE Softloader device against a returnable deposit of £155 which enables the owner to install the software with the aid of an XP equipped laptop.

The outright purchase of the device allows the owner to swap between Volvo and MTE software at will. You can additionally buy comprehensive diagnostics and data logging packages at £65 each to use with the Softloader device and laptop.

You can check the comprehensive nature of this MTE Softloader system if you visit www.ipdusa.com ,the site of MTE's North American distributor.

regards, Don.

I came from the VW Golf community and one of their tuning companies had a BOGOFF offer, only applicable to the forum. Amazingly it was a massive success from both sides of the party (trade/customer). Somebody may do it here, because at the moment 400 pounds is just too much.
