Default 1999 V70 - Front foglamp Bulb

Guys, need some help.

MOT is due tomorrow - doing the checks I found the front offside foglamp is out, which was working fine a few weeks ago. I've been searching for info on the replacement bulb type, but every search I've done either just displays headlamp bulbs, for later cars or complete replacement fog lamps.

Can anyone give me the specs for a replacement bulb please. Its a P1 V70 - 1999 - 2.5 10v non turbo if that helps ?

I can then pop down to Halfords and swap it over before taking the car in for its test

Afternoon , in reply to your question , front fogs are H1 bulbs .

However for the purposes of an MOT , you are not required for them to be working ( i'm an MOT tester ) . IF they are working it makes us grumpy types happy

Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression that if they were fitted they needed to be functional otherwise it would be a fail. Anyway, I popped out and picked up a twin pack and now have working front fogs

Fingers crossed the car passes with the same list of advisories as previous years...

I thought that was the case, 'dingov70', but didn't respond as I wasn't certain and lack your qualification. I do recall however that when I bought my V70 in 2016, the then current MOT, issued Dec. '15, had 'n/s/f fog light out' listed as the sole advisory. You didn't happen to inspect my car by any chance, did you ... ?

Given the many potential fail points on a (relatively) modern car, would that all faults - whether or not they may result in a 'fail' - were as easily fixed.

Regards, John.

I think this is where my confusion lay. This is from the gov.uk website on MOT test requirements https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-insp...ical-equipment

Quote:
4.5.1. Presence, condition and operation
You only need to inspect:

front fog lamps fitted to vehicles first used on or after 1 March 2018

4.5.1. Presence, condition and operation
You only need to inspect:

front fog lamps fitted to vehicles first used on or after 1 March 2018
the 1 rear fog lamp which must be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980

A rear fog lamp is not needed on:

vehicles not fitted with front and rear position lamps
vehicles with permanently disconnected, painted over or masked front and rear position lamps
tricycles and quadricycles
Front and rear fog lamps are permitted to operate independently of any other lamps or ignition systems.

Fog lamps must produce a steady light which is:

white - for front fog lamps
red - for rear fog lamps
Rear fog lamps may be combined with the rear position lamps.

A ‘light source’ means any bulb, LED or other means of emitting light.

You must assess damaged or repaired lamps for security, colour, light output and durability.

Defect Category
(a)

(i) A front or rear fog lamp with a multiple light source up to 1/2 not functioning (Minor)
(ii) An obligatory rear fog lamp missing, or a front or rear fog lamp inoperative or in the case of a multiple light source more than 1/2 not functioning (Major)

(b) A lens defective:

(i) which has no effect on emitted light (Minor)
(ii) such that emitted light is adversely affected (Major)

(c) A front or rear fog lamp:

(i) not securely attached (Minor)
(ii) likely to become detached (Major)
Given my car was built way before 2018 there is no need to inspect them.

Unlikely , unless you popped into Blackpool specially for my attentions . But I have had the pleasure of meeting a couple of members after testing their cars
