My late '98 V70 AWD (71k Miles) has electonic throttle so I expect it to start without me putting my foot on the accelerator pedal. During the 7 months I have owned it I have found that sometimes after a short drive where the engine is neither fully warmed up nor still cold it will not start without a touch of accelerator, it fires but when you release the starter coughs to a halt. Recently it has done this a couple of times when cold too. Once started it runs and ticks over properly, there have been no warning lights.
Am I being picky or is this a sign of a problem (ETS pot?), should I just apply a bit of right foot and forget about it? |

On most EFI car's starting should be done without throttle regardless of fly-by-wire or cable throttle. The ISCV ( Idle valve ) will control air intake during startup.
It does sound like you have a fault starting, you could try some carb cleaner on the Idle valve. But Perhaps a trip to get the codes read may benefit. TT |
