1996 960 For Sale
I am reluctantly aiming to sell my 1996 960 B6304S. I live in Northumberland and have owned the car since 2001. It passed it's MoT last week (it has never failed an MoT), with 182,984 miles on the clock.
This car is definitely NOT being sold for spares. It is in excellent overall condition and runs beautifully. In the 23 years I have owned it I have maintained it meticulously, exceeding the Volvo service recommendations. For example, I have done engine oil and filter changes, using Mobil 1 0W-40 fully synthetic oil, every 5000 miles or annually, whichever comes first and the coolant has been changed every two years. The engine internals are therefore very clean and corrosion-free. A full service history is available. The bodywork is very sound, with no significant corrosion that I am aware of. Throughout the time I have owned the car it has been garaged at night and when not in use. I am attaching some thumbnail photos of the car, taken last week. I am seeking to hear from anyone who might be interested in making a sensible, realistic offer to give the car a good home. Any genuine expressions of interest will be accommodated. Regards, Stan. |

I'm struggling to get a handle on how much a 960 in this condition should fetch. I've thought about putting it in an auction, but you're then stuck with whoever happens to be bidding on the day. This is why I thought I'd put it out there on this forum, for Volvo people to respond to.
To answer your question, I suppose I'm hoping for at least £2k for it. Stan. |

It's beautiful and virtually on my doorstep. Had it been an estate I would be flogging a kidney to purchase it.

Yes - I got the car at 41,000 miles and the (one) previous owner had used fully synthetic oil. I had used Mobil 1 in previous cars and wanted to give the 960 the best so started using Mobil 1 0W-40 in it. It has done very well on it and at 183,000 miles it's not using any oil between services (which admittedly come quite frequently).

This happens to be my first post - your car has tempted me out of my habit of just browsing instead of posting. Been daydreaming about another Volvo since parting ways with my P2 V70 T5, so I'm going to send you a PM now. EDIT: It appears my post count is too low to send private messages, feel free to send me one or reply if you're interested in having a chat about the car. I've had getting a 960 on my mind for a while and yours is a lovely example. Thanks Last edited by gayskull; Aug 16th, 2024 at 08:00. |
