Key fob not working

Hi I have a v40 d2 I went to start it today inserted the fob and got a message insert key thinking the battery had gone tried the spare same problem.
The fob works everything else but will not start the car any help would be appreciated thanks

Check the wiring connector on the back of the key slot module. You have to remove the dash fascia to get at it, but I got the same message once when I dislodged it slightly whilst refitting the dash panel.
