Default Exhaust Rear Lambda Sensor

Hi

2001, S40 SE 1703cc (51 plate)

The engine management light is on and the garage has reported that it is due to a faulty rear sensor on the exhaust. They are unable to obtain a replacement from Volvo as no longer a stock item due to the age age the car.

The garage provided a part No. 30652262 but I have been unable to find this online but there are plenty of others listed when a search is undertaken but I don't know if any of theses are suitable or just adverts for sensors.

Is anyone able to provide advice on where I may obtain the correct sensor or a specific sensor that will be suitable. I will be happy to have a second hand part provided that it is in working order.

Thanks

Before buying a new O2 sensor, give the connections on the plug a clean, a squirt of electrical contact cleaner may be enough to do the job. If cleaning the connections turns out to be the problem, the EML may not extinguish on its own, you may need to clear the code with a scan tool to get the light to go off.

Hi

I assume that the garage will have tried to get it working as the car has been looked at twice for this problem. I don't know what I'm look for even if I was able to get under the car.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Default V40 1.8 rear Lambda

Hello, just joined and have the same problem. On my 1996 1.8 v40 the rear Lambda is missing. There is a metal box about 60mm cube, welded to the exhaust pipe but no wires coming from it. This must have happened when the rear exhaust was changed. Also the front Lambda produces only 0.35 volts so naturally the warning light is on.
Have you had any luck finding a suitable sensor?

The metal box is original and fitted to improve the resonance of the exhaust. There are no wires from it and totally unconnected with the Lambda sensor.

Since you know this, do you know if the v40 1996 has one or two lambda sensors and if two are they identical.

I'm not entirely sure, but seem to remember there is only one lambda sensor. It is 11 years since I scrapped my '97 V40, so memory gets a little hazy.
