2007 XC90 D5 Executive for sale - cheap/offers! (Sussex)
I'm selling my 2007 XC90 D5 Executive that I've owned for 7 years.
202,300 miles. MOT until 21st December. MOT history. 3 owners including me. Volvo dealer service history and lots of receipts. If you know how to fix them and want a bargain, make me an offer! The problematic error codes for the MOT that my reader reports: - 1000 Atmospheric pressure sensor - 1600 Charge pressure sensor - 0022 Wheel sensor right front, mechanical fault I've replaced the ABS ring and sensor on the right front corner with no success. Haven't tried fixing the other two codes. Bodywork and paint is all original. Would come up beautifully with a light polish. Apart from a single spot of rust under the grille, I can't see any rust anywhere. (One of the photos makes it look like the LHS has been keyed, but it's just a light bramble/branch mark.) Tyres are relatively new matching all-season Falken AS210s on the original 19" Executive alloys. Interior is generally good with seat facings all good. There are a couple of dents in the door cards and a small one in the dash facing. The Executive model is already fairly well equipped and this has some upgrades, so it has: - centre console fridge - sat nav in the dash - active bi-xenon headlights - auto-dimming mirrors - DynAudio upgraded hifi with 6-disc changer - rear audio controls with headphone sockets - heated, folding chrome mirrors and chrome C-pillar trims - phone handset - parking sensors all round - usual heated seats, climate control, cruise control, electric seats with driver memory etc. This one has a towbar with trailer electrics. I have a full set of deep-pile floor mats (including the boot) and the load cover. Tool kit, spare wheel etc. all present. I had the windows tinted to stop my kids moaning about the sun. I wrapped as much of the walnut interior as I could in a textured silver vinyl. The parking sensors report an issue but I haven't tried fixing them other than (unsuccessfully) swapping the module. The AC holds gas for a few months and works perfectly once filled, but needs a new condenser. It's 11k overdue a service and will need a cambelt in 8k miles. |

I see the eml light is on in a few of your pics, is that caused by the fault codes? Does it run and drive OK? How many miles do you cover in a week in it roughly, just to get an idea of overall reliability? Hard to value from hundreds of miles away!!!

Yes, the engine management light comes on with each engine start and the two error codes are the ones I listed above. However, the engine starts and runs 100% fine and if I clear the two codes the light goes out and stays out until I restart the engine. I almost never drive the Volvo any more since getting a company car last November. I realised over the weekend that I didn't mention in the advert that when I was driving the car every day the gearbox occasionally (once a month?) didn't catch 4th gear immediately. I assume it's a sticky solenoid in the gearbox. In the interests of openness and full disclosure I thought I'd add this. Again, I'm happy to consider offers for the car. If nobody's interested I'll break it for spares but that's a hassle and seems like a big shame for a car that's so solid generally |

Honestly, I've no idea what it's going to be worth to people.
I've a feeling that after some diagnosis someone could replace a sensor or two and fix the error codes quite cheaply, but it's uneconomical for me to pay someone for their time to do this. So for someone knowledgeable/ experienced this could be a cheap way to get hold of a surprisingly clean and solid old XC90. (I don't know how much of an issue the gearbox would be - I was driving it every day for 6 years with only occasional glitches, which is why I forgot to mention this when I wrote the advert.) Alternatively someone could break it for spares. I haven't yet sat down and made a list of what it's worth in parts but if nobody makes me an offer that'll be my next step for it. The valuable, good-condition bits I can remove would be the active bi-xenon headlights in fully working condition, the executive side mirrors, the seats, door cards, sat nav, hifi, bumpers, wings, doors, wheels/tyres, engine and so on, and then finally the heavy bodyshell as scrap. Someone out there will have a feeling for what they can get out of it and might make me an offer to save me the trouble of breaking it myself. I've got until December when the MOT expires to get it moved off the driveway to the place where I'll start stripping parts off it, so I'll hold out for a couple more weeks. What are you thinking?
