Default 1996 960 For Sale

I am reluctantly aiming to sell my 1996 960 B6304S. I live in Northumberland and have owned the car since 2001. It passed it's MoT last week (it has never failed an MoT), with 182,984 miles on the clock.

This car is definitely NOT being sold for spares. It is in excellent overall condition and runs beautifully. In the 23 years I have owned it I have maintained it meticulously, exceeding the Volvo service recommendations. For example, I have done engine oil and filter changes, using Mobil 1 0W-40 fully synthetic oil, every 5000 miles or annually, whichever comes first and the coolant has been changed every two years. The engine internals are therefore very clean and corrosion-free. A full service history is available.

The bodywork is very sound, with no significant corrosion that I am aware of. Throughout the time I have owned the car it has been garaged at night and when not in use.

I am attaching some thumbnail photos of the car, taken last week.

I am seeking to hear from anyone who might be interested in making a sensible, realistic offer to give the car a good home. Any genuine expressions of interest will be accommodated.

Regards,
Stan.

Thanks Griston. All my driving these days is in my XC40 and the old 960 just sits in the garage. It's only done 400 miles in the past year - all decent (25-30 mile) motorway runs, mind, I never subject it to stop-start motoring. But, also, I've reached the age where I don't feel like crawling around and under the car to maintain it to a high standard; it needs a new owner who can use it and maintain it.

Thanks again for the compliments.

Stan.

I'm struggling to get a handle on how much a 960 in this condition should fetch. I've thought about putting it in an auction, but you're then stuck with whoever happens to be bidding on the day. This is why I thought I'd put it out there on this forum, for Volvo people to respond to.
To answer your question, I suppose I'm hoping for at least £2k for it.

Just out of curiosity, what is the black box with the green coolant filler cap in the view of he engine bay? My V90 has just a small size translucent coolant reservoir in that position.

The black box is just a cosmetic cover to hide the messy gubbins of the coolant reservoir and the ABS unit and pipework. I actually took it off my previous 960 (a 1991 model) when I got this car. The coolant reservoir will be identical to yours.

That is a beaut Stan, if I didn't have the 940 I'd definitely be interested - that is the high standard of care and maintenance that you don't see very often (its usually just me lol).

I'd be patient and wait for the right buyer/price. Someone like me will see the advert and want it really badly. If I didn't already have 3x Volvos I'd be thinking of how I could hide it from my wife...
