Default SKF wheel bearings

Using a discount code at ECP, I have just ordered a pair of SKF front bearing kits for my car.

I read that SKF are the OEM supplies, so im hoping the quality should be OK.

I paid £190 for the pair, which strikes me as bloody cheap (the discount code SPRING30 was worth >£80).

So am I letting myself in for a nightmare here with SKF bearings, or will they be OK?

(please please please be OK!!! )

I'm musing on the irony of asking if SKF bearings would be ok for a Volvo... Look up the history of Volvo.

SKF are good and probably OEM on anyway.

On the V50 it is SFK and FAG.

I bought an SKF front bearing for a V70 about 6 years ago, its done 90000 miles with no problems, it cost £55 from ECP so inflation and the Euro getting stronger has increased that to £85.

Well, indeed: 'I roll'.

The stealer here in NL wants about €350 per bearing - so ill be passing on that!

Volvo used to be SKF bearing before they made cars so they will be ok.

I changed by front wheel bearings with SKF ones in January when car had 170000km on the clock. So far so good! I payed only £140 pair here in Poland. Ones from Volvo dealer were £415.
I hope they last!

Default SKF bearings

I have been replacing original bearings with SKF ones for last 6 years on customers cars and have never had one come back, so I think you are safe using them.

Back in the days when I was involved in engineering, SKF, RHP and Timken bearings were considered the best you could get.
