Default How do I get the door card off please?

Hi yet again,

Right, got most of my problems sorted except for 2 squeaks. The first is the vacuum motor problem that I going to live with for now, but the second is my screeching window.

I've tried squirting some WD40 about, as advised in earlier thread (thanks) but this has not cured it. So could anyone guide me through getting the door trim off please? I am mechanically competent (most of the time), but would hate to snap, bend or rip something whilst attempting to get into the door. I don't have a door-trim removal tool, but could buy one if required.

All help gratefully received.

See here
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/Inte..._Panel_Removal

Remove speaker trim (push in and slide forward). Remove electric window switch unit (if fitted otherwise window winder). Remove door release catch,(there is a small rubber type bung and a screw underneath it). Remove red door open warning lense. At the base of the door card are four openings, remove white clips, pull them downwards. when all that is done lift complete door card from base upwards. To finally remove , you will need to unclip the speaker cable and open door warning cables from the doorcard. You then have access to the window winding mechanism, window glass and should have all the access you need. No door trim removal tools per se are needed except a crosspoint (phillips) and a flat blade secrewdriver.

Try using Spec oil on the window seals ie the seals bertween the glass and the door frame.

Is it the window which is screeching or the mechanism itself? Is the window getting scratched at all?

Hi thanks for the reply, I forgot to say that the car is a late 960, should it basically be the same?

I don't think the glass is getting scratched, but the noise does appear to be mostly coming from the top rather than from within the door, but I can't be sure!

What's spec oil please?

Thanks

Do not listen to Tony, Adam, he does not know what he is talking about. Yours is a post 1995 960 so the door trims are different. I am in the process of finding all the stuff and fit them to my doors. I'll have a look at the rear ones that I have in the sheed.

George

But George, he didn't say it was the 960. But agree if it is, then you are right as that door trim on a 95 960 is different but would still say the principles are the same but clips etc will be in different places.
Never afraid to admit I'm wrong!

Spec Ol or HTPL-27 (high tech penetrating lubricant with PTFE)

Thanks very much guys, I forgot to say that it was a late 960 in my first post.

Can I get the oil from any motorfactor or is it a specialist sort of thing?

Not sure, there must be some branded and non-branded ones out there; just got mine from two separate services at a Dealer and an Independent. They spray a bit but charge you for the whole can. Having said that, each can lasts for ages and I use it for lubricating everything that I don't use WD40 for waterproofing. I know you can get Teflon spray for motorcycle chains but that is a bit thicker, for obvious reasons.

On the can it says Made in England by Merrontree Group Ltd Watford. Tel 01923 233477. Give them a call and see if they have a local distributer.

Tony, once again the Internet fails me. I was trying to be funny but as you cannot read my tone of voice...
