D24 tic cam belt/water pump/tensioner
Evening all,
1995 185 k d24tic 122bhp auto drives like a dream 34mpg having cambelt changed this week as history of my latest purchase is unknown. Using small Volvo specialist, who assures me he knows these engines and there weaknesses inside out.Stated that the official workshop time is 5.7 hours.£250 plus parts.Does that sound about right. Thank you Richard |

If you compare quotes on this job on the forum you will probably see cheaper offers, but 5 hours labour seems about right, to me anyway. It is useful to be on good terms with someone who knows about these cars so the money is well spent and it is not as though it's a yearly expense. Somewhat strange that there is no history especially as it is such a 'recent' model. Might be worth doing the pump belt as well. Volvo parts are expensive, but for peace of mind it is worth having the genuine water pump and tensioner. If you have any extra cash to throw at it consider renewing the coolant hoses.
