Not worth fixing, the car is too old and time taken to get spares, shove them in etc. Enough cheap ones out there and later models.

Although........
If it's tidy and I do mean TIDY, maybe it IS worth it if you can source a cheap lump. Of course you need to know someone who'll drop it in cheaply too........

Let's hope that your "friend" is going to cough up the money. Ask your local Bosch service agency to check the pump and fuel system over. It could be an electronic problem as the pump is chipped (enabling performance enhancing) and unless the cambelt broke I would doubt if the motor is that bad. A full report on the symptoms would help us to sort out what went wrong and perhaps suggest cheaper fixes.
All the best, Peter. |

Rich
If the cambelt has broken I'm surprised there's no engine damage as, in a diesel engine, the pistons are bound to hit the valves in the event that the engine continues to rotate after the belt fails. Often the camshaft breaks in two. You may be incredibly lucky. Regards. |

Have you tried the various breakers yard brokerage websites - be sure to do 2 searches, 1 for Volvo and 1 for Audi to double your chances.

Theres a pump for yours on Ebay quoted as in gwo for £195 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-850-V70-...28124001r12969 This is probably quite cheap bearing in mind original prices but if you can hang around you will eventually get a bargain, I got one for my D24tic in gwo for £27 (and had a nice day out at the 'seaside' collecting it!). If you use the search facility on this diesel forum for 'engines' you should pull up a couple of threads that I put a lot of links on for breakers and replacement engines online, if you don't find them pm me and I will find the thread for you
