Default Alarm Reduced Guard

I have a new 2012 XC70 (US spec) that I just picked up from the dealer last week. I have tried to locate the Reduced Guard option for the alarm in the Car Settings menu, but it's not there. Does every XC70 come with the interior movement sensor for the Alarm, or am I missing something?

Hi,
mine is a MY 2101 XC70 (UK) but the manual is the same for V70 (UK) too.Enter the dash set up section and see Car Settings, then I see Reduced Guard which has the option of Activate Once or Ask On Exit. This latter option allows me to keep reduced guard on all of the time ( dogs!!) then if I don't have the dogs with me on switching off the engine I am asked if I want Reduced Guard and I just press the Exit button that then gives full guard. However next time I switch off it will ask me the same question again. So Reduced Guard is the default in the way I have set it up.

Good luck

Thanks Clivea! Our Volvo dealer took us out to lunch this week, and I asked him the same question; he said the interior movement sensor is standard on European spec Volvos, but for some reason not on US spec models, so my new XC70 doesn't have it. I'm fine without it, I just wanted to make sure (since the reduced guard option wasn't showing up on the dash) before our greyhound set the alarm off!

Does the "Reduced Guard" also switch off the external movement alarm, if the XC70 has one? Reason I ask is I am getting on a ferry this weekend to cross to France and want to disable the movement alarm in case it goes off and flattens the battery. I have read thro' as much of the 250(odd) page Owner's Manual but it is not clear - or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

I believe the reduced guard only switches of the internal movement sensor.I don't think the exterior movement sensor would be activated by being on a boat though.
