diagnostics time
anyone care to cast an eye over this lot and tell me if anything seems out of whack.. firstly whatever this is worth I dont seem to be misfiring (would probably have felt it anyway if I was) here are various sensor readings while on the driveway (not under load) at idle: at 1k (ish) at 2k (ish) at 3k (ish) at 4k (ish) Last edited by stuart bowes; Apr 16th, 2021 at 18:39. |

figures for air flow g/s are vastly less that others I've seen here but not sure if I should totally discount those because they were T5 readings i think and therefore surely must be sucking in easily twice as much air
is there somewhere in VIDA where i should be able to look up expected values? |

If you click on a value then click description, a window will pop up with an explanation of many individual values and what to expect.

ah. ok I'll give that a go cheers
I am wondering why fuel trim is consistently (albeit only a little) different on 1 and 2 to on 3,4 and 5 Last edited by stuart bowes; Apr 16th, 2021 at 19:04. |

ok it was a little less informative than I was hoping for but then I guess this stuff is usually looked at by them what know what they are doing of
anyway... apparently 4g/s at idle is about normal, so I suppose I'm a bit under that? then again what do they think of as a normal idle speed. I'm happy my MAF sensor is working ok unless anyone comes along and disputes that fuel tank pressure is about 0.2 bar (15.08hPa) which is about normal according to a basic google search so I'm assuming I dont have a leak? well I would smell it anyway I suppose manifold pressure reading around 380hPa which is around the 'normal' 400 advised by google. So probably no vacuum leak? I've read somewhere injectors have a +/- 0.5 acceptable tolerance so I'm happy mine are ok (well within that) TLDR: not finding anything untoward from the sensors next step, 2 doses of catclean. also I think I'll do a long journey and use up £20 on the motorway to see what mpg that returns. it may just be that there's a lot of speedbumps on my daily urban adventures thus more slowdown / speedup than those who get closer to 20 (i'm seeing 18.4) |

Hi stuart
Look for any air leaks between the MAF and the throttle body, if you think the reading is a bit low, or you could sell it on for a £1000 or so and get a euro 3, 163 D5 This will do around 50 mpg, Dave |
