Well done, Alan! Those extra gauges were never standard even on the GLE, remaining optional extras for, if I remember correctly, the life of the car. They are highly prised accessories by many today.

My 245GLE was also so equiped. They generally worked well, except the oil temp gauge, which had the annoying habit of disconecting itself from the electrical feed at the sump end - worth keeping an eye on.

Regards, John.

The original RB looks kind of sad and dejected sat in the shed in the 2nd pic Alan. Hopefully its new owner can turn that frown upside down.

As for RB2, that looks happier now it's home with you than when you picked t up - strange how cars manage that!

I see among the auxiliary gauges (genuine Volvo accessories) there is a vacuum gauge configured as a fuel economy meter - very useful for diagnostics if you ever need to fix something. Also an external temperature gauge and an oil temperature gauge plus a voltmeter - all useful stuff!

Looking forward to the story revealing all...........

Well that's a great result.

Sounds like both you and Bob had a great few days away, and yes, I can confirm Scottish roads bear minimal resemblance to us Southern folk.

Looks as though your trip has proved fruitful, and I'm sure we all look forward to your further updates on RB2, although I think it needs a more suitable name than that......

Cheers
Steve

I believe the only thing wrong with RB2 is that it is missing a turbo

Looks great Alan, I look forward to seeing the progress.

Perhaps just 'the Barge'; that has a certain ring to it and it isn't the RB.
