Default Volvo V60 CC 2021 hood hinges space

I just bought a used Volvo V60 CC model 2021, so pretty new in this community.

I have a maybe weird question about the space where the engine bay hood hinges are located. Most of the trash from the front window and wipers ends up in a space where the engine hood hinges are located. I mean everything ends inside the hinge mechanism.

I am surprised that the area is like that — and nothing protects hinges from leaves, trash, etc... moisture. I am also attaching photos so you can see what I am talking about.

I also found out that on one side there is a rubber cover for the area where it separates the engine bay area (behind the hood hinge) from the inside of the car body. See attached photo.

On the other side, the rubber part is missing.

Any idea how this is possible?
