Two from us @ 350 (ie 300+ wheel hp) dyno'd elsewhere, rest done at RICA. Most of the other 19T upgrades from us were pre ME7 cars such as Andy's from here, but when the big fan is in I'll see if I can get his 850R to 300 wheel hp too (only 15 hp to go), but it's more difficult than on the ME7 cars.
I'll get the graphs for you. Problem is that while we didn't have a working dyno, the 19T upgrades were mapped on the road, hence no charts from our own dyno. Adam. |

I bet your insurance company rubbed their hands together when you listed out that little lot!! I am looking down the 19T route once again, however, are the green injectors really necessary? I have heard that the blue ones I have are more than adequate for that kind of power. Later, Dan. |

On the topic of insurance companies, there seems to be a lot of variation out there. I'm with Volvo Owners Insurance (all mods fully declared) but when I called Chris Knott, they refused to touch the car which was very strange indeed!
As for the green injectors, I take the stance that in the tuning world, its all about efficiency and reliability. I guess the stock injectors would suffice but you may be stretching them to the upper limits of their performance. I didn't need 550cc/min injectors on my car but by doing so, we've been able to keep the injector duty cycle very low (that coupled with the fact that they're rediculously cheap compared to the Volvo ones!). In addition, when I wind the boost up again, I can do so safe in the knowledge that the injectors will still have much more flow capacity and can easily cope. So I think its all about what your target is and then sourcing stuff which can either deliver it or deliver it well within safe limits. |

Hi Pyapp.
I can see where you are coming from. I am with you on the add some more overhead for safetys sake. Rather than run an injector at 95%, 100% of the time, I would rather have them running at 60%, 85% of the time with the other 40% available for cylinder cooling or extra fuelling when necessary. Can I ask what injectors you have and where you got them from and how much they were? If they are a much better price than Volvos own ones then I think that would be that way forward. Is the T5 fuel pump up to the job do you know? Cheers, Dan. |

Hi Dan,
You've hit the nail on the head. Having that extra margin is precisely the reason I've gone for a slight overkill, but importantly its actually cheaper than a lot of the commonly used stuff which is an added bonus (plus if I ever decide 340-350bhp is not enough, they can still supply enogh fuel for even more power!! ;-)). I got the injectors through Don so give him a call and I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction and sort you out a good deal. As for the fuel pump, I have every reason to believe they're up to the job. As long as its in good condition you won't have a problem. However, as Alastair has pointed out, a Walbro high-flow pump is more than sufficient for your needs so if you have any reason to doubt the stock fuel pump or if its near the end of its life, that may be a good alternative. Its again much cheaper than the OEM part, a direct replacement and S.W. Autos have got them in stock. If you get the chance, why not come down for the VOC July meet. Its over in this neck of the woods and we can talk more about this, in greater detail, over a drink or two! :-) |

Dan,
Even though you are worried about the safety margin, your stock injectors still have spare capacity even with the 19T, even with cylinder cooling taken care of. Sure, they run a higher duty cycle, but there's still plenty of margin left. I can see why you would consider this option, but it's not a need-to-have on a 19T, so if you're trying to do this within a certain budget, it's one of the items you can quite safetly leave as stock. Hi Adam,
Out of curiosity, what is the max duty cycle you run the stock ones at with a 19T and if you have used larger injectors for the same application, how does the duty cycle then compare? |
