Default PV 544 Seats

The front seats of my 1960 544 are pretty rough and from memory not the best for comfort. Has anyone fitted alternative seats in this model that look the part and are comfortable on longish trips? I would quite liked to have fitted good quality late Amazon seats but had no luck in locating any. Recovering all the seats to original spec is an expensive option and to be honest I would prefer spending the money on better seats.

My PV544 came with first generation Amazon front seats fitted. I learnt that that was a popular modification "back in the day".

They don't have head rests so they kind of merge into the old fashioned look (at the risk of possible greater whiplash injuries in the event of the unthinkable).

I haven't actually driven very far in my PV yet so I can't really comment on comfort other than "they say" they are better.

####

If you want to fit something more modern lots of people seem to be ripping seats out of Ford Ka-s at the moment because they are more often than not narrow enough to fit in classic vehicles (as well as having folding forward seat backs)

If you were to promise to keep the original seats I'm sure it might possibly subdue the "keep it original" outrage (!)

I run a 940 a 144 and my PV. I have to say that the seats in the PV are the most comfy in long runs.

I have some Alfa seats in mine, can't say they look the part, but they are comfortable, with good support.

Classic VW Beetle seats look very similar to PV ones. See if you can blag a sit in one somewhere. Materials can also be similar and there are loads of Beetle trimmers out there to do similar covers to what you have now. Frames and brackets should be adaptable.

I must say Arcturus your seats look superb. Are they fitted with VP auto parts ready made covers or did you just get the material from them and get a specialist to do the job?

I can't speak for someone else but they do sell both ready made covers (for many interior codes) as well as fabric.

I got fabric to re-cover my first gen Amazon seats as I wanted the original PV interior that wasn't (in my case) made for the Amzon. I think some codes were essentially the same (though I think for the Amazon some were renumbered)
